It is hard not to be grateful for all the blessings we have had this year. As we started a new phase of our lives it was difficult to see how things would work out. We still have a long ways to go, but we have had incredible support and encouragement from people who love us. Our home business contiues to survive and our farm is slowly growing.
I don’t want to imply that we haven’t had trials and struggles. Almost every year is full of trials. This year we have endured financial struggles, the loss of animals, insects and mice wiping out most of our annual crops, physical and emotional help problems, and expensive car repairs. However despite the hard times we continue to see blessings and for those I am extremely grateful.
We added new animals, put up fences, planted trees and shrubs, and painted buildings.
We even grew grass successfully in our clay soil for the first time.
It has truly been a year full of blessings. At the beginning of the year we set some goals for our farm. Although we knew that we would not get them all accomplished, we also knew that we would get a lot more done if we set goals and worked steadily on them throughout the year. As we worked throughout the year we were able to accomplish additional goals as resources and opportunities that we didn’t even know we would have arose. It was a humbling experience as we went forward not knowing beforehand how everything would work out.
Even as we wrap up this year we continue to see more blessings as we get desperately needed mulch for our garden from kind neighbors.
One of my favorite times of the year is the beginning of the new year because I get to reflect on the blessings of the past year and set goals for the coming year. I love setting goals. Goals help us to grow. As we look forward we have an opportunity to learn more and to love more.
